Board governance glossary

Board pack

Also called: board book, board packet, board papers

Definition

The board pack (also board book or board packet) is the set of materials directors receive before a meeting: agenda, prior minutes, reports, and the briefing for each decision. Sending it early enough — commonly a week ahead — is what lets directors prepare. Late or bloated packs are a common cause of poor deliberation.

How Prepared Board records it

Recorded in Prepared Board

Each meeting has a pack that moves from draft to published to sealed, with a board-level lead-time setting. A published pack can be opened from a token-gated /pack link without an account (links can expire or be revoked), and fetched as plain text for an outside agent at /pack/{token}/agent. Executive-session and privileged documents are hidden from the link view.
